DATE OF BIRTH:

EDUCATION:
• Craigholme School – obtained 5 Highers with grades of AABBB and 3 Advanced Highers with grades of AAA
• The University of Malaga, Spain – I spent the first semester of the third year of my degree studying Spanish literature.
• The University of Edinburgh, Scotland – Master of Arts with Honours Spanish and English Literature obtained Second Class First Division (2:1).
• The Randolph School of English – obtained a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).
PERSONAL STATEMENT:
I greatly enjoy international travel, immersing myself into other cultures and learning new languages. I am a voracious reader of fiction and literary criticism but I also ensure I keep informed of current affairs and the economy. I speak and write fluently in Spanish and have an oral fluency in Portuguese that I am perfecting with further study. Furthermore, I am computer literate and have extensive experience using software programmes such as Powerpoint.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Teaching:
• British Council Assistantship, Spain, March 2010 to June 2010 -
I taught English to children aged between 12 and 18. I was given the opportunity to organise lessons, experience maintaining discipline in the classroom, interact with young people and improve my own language skills. I also taught classes of adults and had sole responsibility for planning and delivering lessons which required exceptional organisation and problem solving skills. It was a challenging but worthwhile undertaking for which I wrote a thorough report of my experiences and submitted to the British Council.
• Language Teacher, Berlitz, September 2011 to March 2012 - As one of the leading language schools in the world, Berlitz demands excellence from its language tutors as do the executives who attend the English for Business courses. Planning is essential, as is being able to adapt to the needs of each student. Impeccable communication and organisational skills are vital for the job, as is an ability to adapt to every situation. One of my roles was to go into companies to train employees. Often there would be a strict time frame in which students would have to attain a certain level of English. It was my responsibility to produce results and do it in a highly professional and efficient way, balancing my inter-personal skills and knowledge of teaching. I was able to build-up a network of contacts in institutions ranging from Itau and Coca-Cola to Petrobras. In order to be offered the position, I underwent initial interviews and a rigorous training programme to learn Berlitz´s methodology and to achieve the required standards. Continual evaluation was also mandatory to ensure that high standards were maintained.
Sales and retail:
• Stylist Thomas Pink September 2009 to August 2010 - I greatly enjoyed working for this company. It was my first experience of a luxury brand and I gained a detailed knowledge of the market in which Pink excels. I was given the opportunity to become involved in everything from visual merchandising to personal shopping. I consider my time there invaluable.
• Stylist Karen Millen October 2010 to July 2011 - I took on an even more focused personal shopper role demonstrating excellent customer service and unique style advice to every client. Creating an environment that reflected the high quality of Karen Millen products was an essential part of my responsibility as well as continually meeting sales targets.
Journalism:
• I contributed to various student organised publications during university. As I possess an ability to interpret and arrange information to create an informative and engaging piece of writing, my experience with journalism was genuinely enjoyable but it also served as a learning experience. Working to a deadline was a frequent expectation in my degree, however researching and composing an article in as brief a time as a few days was challenging at first. I relished mastering the ability to write succinctly to meet deadlines.

Dear Sir,
I am a seasoned senior manager with almost 30 years of technical, financial and managerial experience. For several years, I served as a Business Controller for Alcoa’s Latin American flat rolled aluminium business. Among other things, in this role, I lead cost saving initiatives that doubled our EBITDA margin, secured low interest financing for a plant expansion from the Brazilian Development bank, reconfigured our warehouses for better efficiency and helped improve customer satisfaction. I had financial reporting responsibilities to both Europe and the U.S, and I am consequently familiar with international accounting standards.
Prior, I worked for several years in IT where I managed a large team with members located throughout Latin America. I was responsible for implementing infrastructure and several MIS such as Oracle Application, and I also led the integration of newly acquired businesses into Alcoa’s IT system.
I have recently moved to London for family reason, and I am work eligible.
